Abstract

The writer describes how a fifth-grade teacher nurtured culturally responsive teaching by implementing authentic literacy activities that empowered students. The activities included the development of an inclusive class magazine and implementation of a WebQuest that required students to research a public figure and argue why that person's image should be used on a new commemorative coin.
